Another reader’s responce to the question about going to their church:
“I guess what concerns me about the church I go to is that the gospel Jesus offered has been so watered down, I seldom hear it anymore. I don’t remember the last time the speaker gave ‘an alter call’. There is very little challenge in their message to even see the power of the gospel to change people’s heart.
“Then when the speaker aims to ‘translate the gospel’ into more modern terms for the non-believers in the church, it is often off base. Sometimes it appeals to ‘being better husbands’ – which is good but without the help of the Holy Spirit, the heart of any husband won’t be changed. They forget to mention that part. Read more... We have selected several responses to the YouTube “Religion I hate…but Jesus I love” by Jeffery Bethke. Here is another interesting reply adapted from: Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus, Patheos Website ‘The Smackdown.mht. Remember to leave your own comments at the end of this post.
“Without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, religion is a joke. This is made apparent not only in the words, but in the actions of Jesus Christ. Whether you believe in the sacraments or not, there is no doubt that Christ established ritual. It’s one thing to ignore Christ’s statement to “eat my body.” It’s another to ignore his command to “do this in memory of me.” Christ commanded that we have rituals. Read more... There were many responses to the Video made by Jefferson Bethke. I have included a few comments that are relevant to our topic of Counterfeit Religious Church System as a challenge to Christianity.
“You might have guessed that I’m a fan—no “religion” can save anyone. This video is like the kid in class who says what everyone has wanted to say but were too afraid to say it. I was that kid as well, but I praise God that someone infinitely cooler and more talented has taken his gifts and shouted out the message of grace that Jesus proclaimed 2000 years ago: I will build my church, and all the powers of hellwill not conquer it (Matthew 16:18). The following YouTube video made a very big ‘splash’ in the church scene in 2012. However, this author believes it is so important, we present it for you review and comments:
“I wrote the poem after reading this book. http://ow.ly/cwlT5 Uploaded by bball1989 on Jan 10, 2012
“A poem I wrote to highlight the difference between Jesus and false religion. In the scriptures Jesus received the most opposition from the most religious people of his day. At its core Jesus’ gospel and the good news of the Cross is in pure opposition to self-righteousness/self-justification. Religion is man centered, Jesus is God-centered. This poem highlights my journey to discover this truth. Religion either ends in pride or despair. Read more... (209 words, estimated 50 seconds reading time)
