When we pass from being a slave in the kingdom – with all the slave thinking patterns from the world still dogging us – we enter a new growth stage.
It is possible in our current ways of looking at the Christian religion and the system church to sail passed what Jesus said about the Holy Spirit, thinking it was for then but not for now. Getting ‘Egypt’ out of the hearts of the Israelites was one of the hardest lessons for Jehovah God to teach His people. Back there, they were slaves, and servants – without any authority over their own life. They had the mind-set of being in servitude to what was around them. Egypt was their Master! They really believed: “I don’t have a say so I can’t achieve much …”. As a result, they were limited, restricted and certainly not where God wanted them to be for the future. We have been using the Old Testament story of the journey of the Hebrew slaves from Egypt. I am sure you remember their story. The people of Israel were given their freedom by the Pharaoh and started out with fear and wonder. (See 7/7 – An Old Testament example of slavery’s iron fist)
Their first challenge: crossing the Red Sea with the armies of the Pharaoh hot on their heels. Would they stay true to Jehovah’s words … or would they give into their doubts and fears with the enemy’s troops headed their way? This was a very real test for people still stuck in their slave thinking. Being free was still a wonder and a new experience for them. Read more...
