6/25 Understand the three-part nature of our Bridegroom

In one of our past posts, we referred to the Lord Jesus as the coming Bridegroom.  He comes for a pure and spotless bride.  Will we be ready?

One very important lesson we – as the church – need to learn is the true nature of the Lord Jesus.  Here is one way to see Him as three parts to His ‘role’ or His purpose in our life.

Just like His name, we can know Jesus as the Christ, as the Lord of all and then as Jesus, that One who walks and talks with us.

6/24 Dealing with Harmful Authorities in Following Jesus

There are only two methods given by Jesus to handle conflicts and harmful authorities.  Both ways are outlined in Matthew 18:21 onwards.

Conflict will come; it’s unavoidable.  It is part of being a human being.  It’s how we handle that hurt that counts.

There are Seven Steps of Action you can take when you disagree with something an authority asked you to do:

1.  Check your own attitudes:

Make sure you are not just being stubborn and want your own way.   Let them know your willingness to do the right thing with their guidance.

#12. Readers Respond: Why Don’t You Go to Church?

Make a Stand!

“Hey guys I’ve been reading your responses to the question “why don’t you go to church” and I wonder if you don’t mind me making a statement: if you are not enjoying your church and you feel rejected or something like that, then I would encourage you to make a stand!

“Instead of leaving the church to its own devices, try your hardest to change the church and make it more Christlike for the good of the people and the community in which the church is supposed to be serving.

6/22 Guest Post for Christian Foundations: ‘Hardcore Legalism’

Here is an interesting Guest Post presented by Bob Gonzales at drbobgonzales.com :

I used to think that I could earn God’s favor and salvation on the basis of my inherent virtue and good works. Of course, I admitted I wasn’t perfect. But I foolishly presumed that my good deeds would somehow outweigh my bad deeds.

“In this respect, I thought and behaved much like the Pharisees, scribes, and Jewish people of Jesus’ day who trusted in their own inherent virtue and religious performance to merit their acceptance before God (Matthew 5:20; Luke 16:14-15; 18:9-12, 14; Romans 10:1-3).
