#13. Readers Respond: Why Don’t You Go to Church?

What do you think about the church?

“So why don’t you go to church?  No mentoring and guidance program to feed new Christians.

“So we just abandon the new believers in our church meeting?  How are they to understand the Bible if they are not encouraged to even read it?  We have a Soup Kitchen and ‘Seeker Friendly’ services were we attend church so we get alot of ‘weird and wonderfuls’ coming through our doors.

“It doesn’t seem like an ‘alter call’ is made anymore.  We just accept that if they keep coming, they must be believers.  Ya’ right!  Coming from a teacher background, my heart is to help those new ones see the real Jesus and what He stands for.

“I know we have alot of traditions at our church and alot of the ‘very older’ generation look down their noses at these new ones, especially the one with the red hair and all the tattoos.  We were all caught in the world before we came to Jesus; maybe they have forgotten that.

So still I want to see new disciple programs and ways to help these new ones face their choice to follow Jesus ….but at my church, I am considered ‘out of step’ even though I know this is my gifting to be a teacher.

Don’t tell me to go talk to my Pastor as he already thinks I have two heads to even suggest trying to change and teach these new ones.  How great it would be to have Mentors and even prayers to come along side and really help others to face the need to seek God.

Sanctification is not a modern, new idea then?  “It’s too confronting for them.” I was told.  What happened to the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ?  Is He too confronting too…. maybe so.
