7/4 A slave with the wrong idea of their Master
We will spend one more post talking about the ‘Slave mindset’ we all had before we came into the Kingdom. Self-centred thinking marked our way of dealing with issues and relationships…in the past. We aimed for wht ever we thought would bring uu happiness, whether through the perfect job, spouse, children, home and holidays. However, for most of us, we never quite reached perfection in all the areas we needed…so ‘happiness’ remained that elusive dream.
Actually, happiness will always be ‘an elusive dream’. The more to try to find and control happiness, the less you have because happiness is a by product of living a life with contentment and peace. The poorest person can be happy if they have God in the right place in their heart and have learned to be content with ‘Godliness’. This is great gain! verse////
Then for many of us, we believed ….lies. Some of these lies were about our own self worth or the worth and respect due others. Even wrong philosophies of life had to be faced and adjusted to other standards. For some, it was walking away from the occult powers, or from the pull of addictive games and fantasies. Other had to deal with alcohol, drugs and other false comforts had to be dealt with. For some this was an immediate deliverance; other had to face the slow withdrawal journey.
Certainly about the top lies we had to work through in our change into a new kingdom was the lies about our Creator God. How could a God who said He was love allow such pain and misery? Who was this all-powerful entity and what did He want of me? (For some answers, send me an email for the free eBook ‘The Purpose of Pain’. Send your request to susanne[at]mentorsnotebook.com)
Coming face to face with this Creator that Jesus called ‘Daddy’ is part of this growth but we will save the heart of this topic for a later post.
Basically we were all caught in our wrong attitudes, behaviour and false comforts. We are all in need of saving – form ourselves if not from the crazy, whirlwind world around us. That’s where we were when we decided to ‘repent’ turn around and follow another path – the one laid out by the Lord of Lords and Kings of Kings. We chose to step into His kingdom….as a slave, saved by the grace of God! …. but what now? The journey still stretches ahead for each of us.
In our next post, we have presented a personal worksheet to see where you are in your journey. Where is your spiritual growth in hearing your Creator?
We have added the Story of Jackson to focus more on the truth we are explaining. We shall present a chapter from his life as he travels through each of the stages of his growth in his Christian walk. So please join us as we continue to see the journey from Slave to being an Heir in the Kingdom, from being the servant to becoming that Bride.
