7/50 Transition from Steward to being a Child of God

In Stage 4, we make another leap jump in our faith – from being just a Steward in His House …. to chains1being aware that we are His child, adopted into His family and growing into being an heir with Him. What a difference mindset!

However, it is here that we most often have to face an ‘Orphan spirit’ and learn what it means to be Welcomed and Adopted into God’s family. This is a transition from being ‘just a Steward’ when we are the servant and He is the Owner and Master of all things. Certainly He is that – Owner and Master of all things – but when we move into this stage of our Christian growth, we see a new and different relationship to that Owner.

We no longer serve at His pleasure or the pleasure of the system church …. or those around us. We need to move into service out of ‘being’ His child first. We learn to ‘be’ before we can really begin to ‘do’ for Him.

This is a very common part of following Jesus, no matter what ‘church box’ you call your church home. The religious system church has to have servants in order to function. In fact, we can go so far as to say that the church system – versus Jesus’ bride – grows ‘orphan-servants’. These are people who feel the need to serve in the church for various reasons besides ‘Jesus called me to do this’.

Orphan-servants place God as their Master – and that He is. They see God as the Owner of all the Earth – and that He is. They follow the example of those around them because that is where they believe they need to be – and they do.

Let us stress the point however, that the orphan-servant may follow great programs and services, do great works and fill the gaps in the world’s view of God …. But this issue is the Heart belief. Are they servants because He is Owner, such like a slave to their Master …. Or do they know the promises of being One with Him, and the communion and Lordship with the King of Kings?

As a Servant, you own nothing. The value you have is because you can do something for Him. A servant in the Kingdom cannot become an heir. They are there to serve while a Son is there to be trained as the future heir. So it is with us. With the mindset of ‘just a servant in the Kingdom’, we eliminate the possibility of growing into the position He has called us into. We cannot become a child or God while our Heart continues to be ‘just a servant’. How can we give Him our life when we don’t own it? ….or give Him our money or property or ….. the list goes on – when a servant does not own them?

So let us invite you to continue in your growth as step into this new position in Him. However, there is one major hurdle you must make – deal with any ‘Orphan Spirit’ from your thinking and Heart!
